The Rodeo: Part II

Tonight Barry and I are sitting in our easy chairs exhausted.  We have spent the entire evening literally chasing after AJ at the fair and rodeo.  We began by visiting the rabbits, chickens, ducks, and peacock building.  AJ has a weird fascination with chickens, but was intimidated (as was I) by the attitudinal goose.

We walked through the cattle barns.  Barry was quite disappointed when AJ lost interest in the cattle and focused all his attention on the skid loader parked at the end of one barn.  He is obsessed with machinery.

Barry was even more disappointed when AJ insisted that we see the pigs, then go back to see the pigs, and return a third time to see the pigs.  He really liked the pigs.  I told Barry not to worry.  Cattle are something he sees each day; pigs are a novelty.

We then spent five minutes trying to pry AJ away from climbing all over the John Deere tractor on display on our way to the arena.

AJ spent almost the entire evening running a circle around the ambulance.  He would stop every three or four trips for me to put a piece of cheeseburger in his mouth.  Then he would take off again.  Eventually he widened his circle to include the first set of bleachers.  He did stop to watch the bull riding.

The moment the rodeo was over, AJ was ready to go home.  He needed a bath since he was filthy with dirt and dust from the arena.

Now he's tucked angelically in his crib.  It's ironic how a child who can be so active can sleep so soundly.
