Stating the Obvious

Boys and girls are different.


Yep, it's true.  And I didn't know how different until I had a son.  Boys are preprogrammed with some interesting features, such as:


1.  The ability to make guttural sounds that resemble the rumble of every vehicle known to mankind.  My son has a different sound for a tractor, a semi, a payloader, a crane, a train, and an airplane.  I try to make them and it sounds like the vehicle needs oil and an overhaul.  Barry gets on the floor and can mimic the sounds perfectly.


2.  They want to know why and how something works.  We girls just play with something, never questioning what makes it tick.  Boys play with it and then try to tear it apart to find out the role of every individual part.


3.  They can watch the same video a hundred times and never get tired of it.


Tonight, AJ and Carter proved that boys also come out of the womb familiar with the game of football.  And Lindsay and I found that watching a 17-month-old and a 21-month-old play the game is quite entertaining.


Carter has decided that he's going to be a back.  He wants the ball at all times.  Even when Carter runs, he always has one of his arms tucked in like he's protecting the ball.


AJ wants to be on defense.  He wants nothing more than to get the ball from Carter.


It was all fun and games until AJ decided to wrap Carter up in a tackle.  Both boys tumbled to the ground.  Much to AJ's dismay, Carter fell on the ball retaining possession.  AJ cried.  He's definitely going to have to get over that before he gets to high school.
